DON’T STOP!

It seems like an impossible request when in difficulty; but this the only way to survive adversity without being bitter.
Prayer

Dear Lord, Even as I search my life for things to be cheerful about, I ask the You help the people of Sierra Leone do same. May our prayer lives be full and active knowing that every opportunity to talk with You is a blessing. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

IS THERE HOPE?

Amos 9:14-15.            ““I’ll make everything right again for my people Israel: “They’ll rebuild their ruined cities. They’ll plant vineyards and drink good wine. They’ll work their gardens and eat fresh vegetables. And I’ll plant them, plant them on their own land. They’ll never again be uprooted from the land I’ve given them.” GOD, your God, says so.”

We still hold the nation of Sierra Leone in our prayers as we contemplate today’s verse. Although Israel is the addressee in this passage, that promise holds true for any who call on God’s name. It is true for Sierra Leone and it is true for you in whatever situation needs God’s restorative nature.

Karla Hawkins‘s commentary on this verse is below;

Here God is talking about the restoration of Israel. They had disobeyed God and had been taken into captivity, but after repenting and calling out to Him, He promised to restore them to the promised land and to a position of protection and right relationship with Him once again. He goes on to list, explain and elaborate on some of the blessings that they are going to receive. If we choose to do what is right and obey the commands of the Lord, then the Lord will bless us like He told Israel, and even our future generations will be blessed. God heals the broken-hearted, and restores not only relationships but possessions and land back to His people.

Sometimes things happen outside of our control, but nothing is beyond El-Gibhor. Give it all to God and see order form from chaos, joy from mourning and peace from disruption.

PRAY FOR SIERRA LEONE

2 Corinthians 1:3-4.              “All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us.”

As we stand in prayer with Sierra Leone, I can only offer the words of the God of compassion and comfort;

Isaiah 49:22-23 “The Master, GOD, says: “Look! I signal to the nations, I raise my flag to summon the people. Here they’ll come: women carrying your little boys in their arms, men carrying your little girls on their shoulders. Kings will be your babysitters, princesses will be your nursemaids. They’ll offer to do all your drudge work— scrub your floors, do your laundry. You’ll know then that I am GOD. No one who hopes in me ever regrets it.””

You are not alone.

EL-GIBHOR

Isaiah 9:6.      “For a child has been born—for us! the gift of a son—for us! He’ll take over the running of the world. His names will be: Amazing Counselor, Strong God, Eternal Father, Prince of Wholeness.”

No wonder the Israelites were expecting someone militant; the Bible gave them the Messiah’s name as El-Gibhor – Mighty God. This is our God, our High Priest and intercessor, this is the one who has our backs no matter the situation.

When pressed between a rock and a hard place, much like myself, international evangelist Rabbi K. A. Schneider finds comfort in Jeremiah 32:17-18

“Nothing is too difficult for You, who shows lovingkindness to thousands, but repays the iniquity of fathers into the bosom of their children after them, O great and mighty God [El Gibbor].”

Rabbi Schneider breaks it down as;

El Gibhor is the description of God as a Mighty Warrior and Champion. He always prevails, has great strength, and authority over all. It is He who spoke all of creation into existence. It is His mighty hand that brought the ten plagues against Egypt and set His people free. Sometimes we forget that we can trust God in overwhelming troubles in our life today. He is still Mighty God and will deliver us! “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 18:2

EL-OLAM

Psalm 90:1-2.                                    “God, it seems you’ve been our home forever; long before the mountains were born, Long before you brought earth itself to birth, from “once upon a time” to “kingdom come”—you are God.”

Fairytales end with “…..and they lived happily ever after.” The Bible ends with “…..Kingdom come” one works towards and end and the other opens an eternity of possibilities. No one can give what they do not have; God promises us eternal life through His Son because He, Himself is eternal (Hebrews 13:20). God doesn’t hide who He is from us; He wants us to know Him as an eternal God (Exodus 3:14). He was there for our ancestors (John 8:58), He is present with us (Psalm 46:1), He will be there for our descendants (Psalm 78:5&6). The best part is; He’s changes not! (Hebrews 13:8).

Often we are anxious for a thing to happen, but the God who was and is and is to come makes all things beautiful in it’s time (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The linear concept of time was made for us not Him. (2 Peter 3:8). Death could not hold Him, why would time? (Revelations 1:8)
