It was a long, difficult day. Walking through town in the blazing sun had caused you to sweat a bucket a mile. Then there were those mud puddles you had to wade through because there was no way around. You’re still trying to get past the memory of the crazy person who threw garbage at you. You feel hot, sticky, grimy and stinky; all you want is a bath. Then suddenly you feel cool water pouring over your body and you catch a whiff of pleasantly perfumed soap. As the ridges of the sponge exfoliate your skin you start to feel refreshed and invigorated. The world no longer seems like it’s coming to a crashing end. Now, it feels like you can still do something useful before bedtime.
I know you’ve been in that position. Sometimes getting in the shower is a scene you eagerly anticipate even when you’re still out there. That situation is pretty much like being covered in sin and God cleansing you. Sins are forgiven and a new lease on life is given.
Think About This
God won’t force you into the bath, you have to get in yourself.
Dear Lord, Help me recognize the filth that engulfs me and cleanse me from it. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
