2 Corinthians 6:18.          “”I’ll be a Father to you; you’ll be sons and daughters to me.” The Word of the Master, God.”

Not everyone knows their earthly father or has a loving Godly relationship with them. That is a failing of our human condition. What a relief then to know that we all have an equal and open chance to know and have a glorious relationship with our Heavenly Father. Ephesians 1:5 says “he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—”  NIV. We were already earmarked for adoption. It’s as though God walked into the orphanage and declared; “I want them all; sign up anyone who wants to come with me, whether they’re here or not!”

As adopted children, we sometimes have questions hanging over our heads. We’re not sure that it’s for real, unbelievers mock us but in Isaiah 63:16 the Bible assures us that it doesn’t matter what anyone says.  “But you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us or Israel acknowledge us; you, LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name.”  NIV

We have that assurance because God our Father has a crazy love for us. With His love, we didn’t need to be perfect or even act a certain way. He just loved us and want us to be His. “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”  1 John 3:1 NIV

When ever in doubt, just whip out your adoption papers as proof that you are indeed a child of God and have the right to call Him your dad. “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “ Abba, Father.”” Romans 8:15 NIV

Remember you were chosen and loved before you were aware of yourself. You were given the choice to become God’s own heir and the right to call him Father. Isn’t it wonderful to the child of He who is “one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”?Ephesians 4:6 NIV

Think About This

You’ve been blessed with adoption into God’s family. What does that mean to you?

Dear Lord, Thank You for choosing me to be Yours. Thank You for making me joint heir with Your only begotten Son. Thank You for showering me with Your love. Amen
