John 16:20. “Then fix this firmly in your minds: You’re going to be in deep mourning while the godless world throws a party. You’ll be sad, very sad, but your sadness will develop into gladness.”
There will be times when it seems like a never ceasing flood of bad news floods your soul. It will look like the very worst of humanity is out to play and the devil has won. Indeed it may seem the end has come.
But Christ asks us to keep one thing in mind; He will turn our sorrow into joy. When it gets dark we do not see how things will be bright once more but we know the light will eventually come. Have that same faith in God.
Through the glory of Christ’s death on the cross the victory has been won. By the revelation and fulfillment of Scripture Christ gives us an eternal perspective; we know the fight is over and the victory won, we know the end of this matter from the beginning. The Ascension of Christ affords us a mediator, intercessor and High Priest who keeps us from falling away. It is for His sake we have grace and it is through His resurrection that we may share in the glory of eternity.
It is our sorrows that will be turned into joy. Our sorrows will not be replaced by joy. That which gives us pain will be the same thing to bring us joy; much like a woman in labour; it is hard and painful, but the beauty of the birthed child is an overwhelming joy. Christ promises better; a joy that is everlasting
Think About This
Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel? Do you Trust God that it is there?
Dear Lord, May I trust that You would turn my sorrows into everlasting joy. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
