Luke 24:50-53. “He then led them out of the city over to Bethany. Raising his hands he blessed them, and while blessing them, took his leave, being carried up to heaven.
And they were on their knees, worshiping him. They returned to Jerusalem bursting with joy. They spent all their time in the Temple praising God. Yes.”
Christ gave parting instructions and a blessing on His way back to the Father. The reaction of the disciples proves more than anything that they were as human as we are. They got excited about the blessings and put the actual work on the back burner. So far back that it took tongues of fire to reignite that memory.
There is nothing wrong with getting excited over blessings but we mustn’t forget that being joint heirs with Christ also requires us to toil the field with Him. There are even more rewards when then work is done. (Revelations 2:7, 11, 17, 26, 3:5, 12, 21)
Am I as excited to work for Christ as I am to receive His blessings?
Prayer
Dear Lord, May all I do be for you. Teach me to work with You with the joy of Your blessings. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
