John 21:25.          “There are so many other things Jesus did. If they were all written down, each of them, one by one, I can’t imagine a world big enough to hold such a library of books.”

I had wanted to do a step by step examination of the Passion of Christ and its aftermath. I was more than a little surprised to realize that Christ didn’t ascend a couple of days or a week after His resurrection, but a full forty days after! What was He doing all this time? And how come the Bible has so little information on it?

The Bible lists a couple of Christ appearances and even history records a few (read the works of Josephus and Eusebius), so we know He met and spoke the group’s and individuals. He encouraged and exhorted them to remain fast in the faith; leading to the initial organization of the church. Although we are not given His itinerary the Bible makes it clear that this was not an idle period. That said why is it important to note?

He chose to remain hidden to all but His disciples during this time. This is clear from Acts 10: 40,41 & every single reference to His resurrection. In John 7:10 we read of Jesus’ last Feast of Tabernacles. In verse 10 we learn that He chose to remain “as it were in secret until the midst of the feast.” He stated:

“Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also” (John 14: 19). He continued: “…He that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him“ (verse 21), Again, “Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not to the world?” (verse 22). So again we note that 3 times in 4 verses we have the clear distinction between the saved (us) and unbelievers (the world).

Isn’t this a prophecy of the Lord’s Resurrection Ministry? Certainly, He gives at least a partial answer to the purpose of His resurrection ministry; to manifest Himself to believers & not the world.

Think About This
Are you on the inner circle of ministry?

Do you want to be?

Would you experience the Risen Lord?

Dear Lord, Might I see and hear You and be eager to obey. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
