John 19:30. “After he took the wine, Jesus said, “It’s done . . . complete.” Bowing his head, he offered up his spirit.”
Christ had just fulfilled all Scripture by declaring His thirst and receiving attention to that need. There was nothing more left to do
Max Lucado writes, “The history-long plan of redeeming man was finished. The message of God to man was finished. The works done by Jesus as a man on earth were finished. The task of selecting and training ambassadors was finished. The job was finished. The song had been sung. The blood had been poured. The sacrifice had been made. The sting of death had been removed. It was over.”
Christ had spent 30 earthly years in preparation for a 3 year ministry and now his work was done. With a triumphant yell He declared the Victory won. His mission was so complete that when accessed later the tomb was empty. Elisha had an incomplete mission such that his bones resurrected a man (2 Kings 13:21)
As Christians do we live the lives expected of us? Do we complete the mission God has given us? Do we even know what it is we’re meant to do? Christ understood His mission and prepared diligently for it, He saw it through even to the bitter end and in the end raised the Victor’s song. That means we are longer slave to sin, we no longer have to remain oppressed, we can live life without fear or worry; Christ said, ” It is finished!”
Think About This
What is my mission and how can I do it?
Dear Lord, Please hep me recognize and execute the mission You have given me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
