CROSSWORDS; 1

Luke 23:34-35.          “Jesus prayed, “Father, forgive them; they don’t know what they’re doing.”

It had been a crazy last few hours; one of emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical torture. The spikes had gone through His palms and He hung on the cross. This is when Christ chooses to speak. The first thing He does is to seek forgiveness for the very people who caused Him to suffer; you and I.

You might be thinking; ” Well Jesus was God so ….” Thing is Jesus as He hung on the cross was fully man. It was hard for Him to forgive those that had done Him wrong which is why Had turned to God in His submission. For some of us when things can hard, we bail and hope things sort themselves out. Christ didn’t instead He relied on the awesome infinite nature of God’s mercy.

Today we know what Christ was doing on the cross and we know the part we played in getting Him there. Can we still hide behind; “for they know not what they do?” What lessons can we learn from this simple act of love and mercy?
