Romans 12:11. “Don’t burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant.”

Everyone looks forward to the weekend. Life is stressful; we work hard Monday-Friday, put up with the best and worst of human behavior and push ourselves to the limits. Friday nights are crash nights with folks throwing off their everyday personas and recharging their batteries as best they know how; parties, nights in, all night prayer meetings, binge watching TV, reconnecting with family and friends or even solitary moments.
We revel in Saturdays and catch up on other aspects of our lives, sometimes spilling it over into Sundays. As night begins to fall on Sundays, our heats sink when faced with the prospect of another week.

We live our spiritual lives pretty much the same way. We shine at major events only. In between our light is so dim no one can tell that we are Christians. It doesn’t have to be that way. It shouldn’t be that way. Today’s passage encourages us to keep the flame lit, to maintain the zeal and our spiritual fervor. Are you up to the Challenge?

Think About This

Why does your light grow dim?

Dear Lord, Let me be a neon sign for you plugged into The Eternal Power Source. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
