Proverbs 6:6-7. “You lazy fool, look at an ant. Watch it closely; let it teach you a thing or two. Nobody has to tell it what to do!”

“All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small. All things wise and wonderful the Lord God made the all!” Tilly couldn’t help singing as she skipped along. It was her new favorite song. Tilly thought the animals were amazing; there were so many lessons to be learnt from them. Did you know that ants can carry up to 5000 times their own weight before they lose their heads?

The Bible uses the ant as an example of how God expects us to approach work. Not just the 9-5 jobs we do, but also the labour in His Vineyard. Actually it’s more of an approach to life in general. What strikes me is that no instructions are given; we know what we’re supposed to do, but we don’t do it. Bible was given as a reminder of all God has put inside of us; just in case we’ve drowned out that still small Voice.

It can be hard, and burdensome to live life the way God asks, but a closer study of the ant shows it to be worth it.

“She prepares her food in the summer And brings in her provisions [of food for the winter] in the harvest.”

In your time of need you shall never be found wanting.

Dear Lord, please help me learn wisdom and show me how to use it to bring You glory. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
