John 4:13-14 “Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again. Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst—not ever. The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life.””

Billie threw open the fridge door and guzzled down a glass of water. Oh that felt so good. She could actually feel the cool liquid coursing through his body and hitting the right spots. What a blessing it was to be refreshed on such a hot day. Sometimes Billie felt like that when she worshiped; a coolness flooding her soul and making her feel lighter. Now Billie wanted to listen to some worship music. She shut the fridge door and ran off.

The woman at the well was seeking refreshment for her body and instead found a quenching for the thirst in her soul. Water is essential for life; spiritual or physical.

“A white-tailed deer drinks from the creek; I want to drink God, deep draughts of God. I’m thirsty for God-alive. I wonder, “Will I ever make it— arrive and drink in God’s presence?”

Psalm 42:1-2

We must be desirous of God’s consistent presence in our lives. That is spiritual water. God’s presence fills our being and is a catalyst for just about everything we do as Christians. Pretty much in the same way water acts for our physical body. When we don’t get enough water we become dehydrated, then our bodies begin to shrivel up and die. If we don’t have enough of God’s presence within us the same happens to our souls. Gorge on God’s presence today and and everyday.

Think About This

How can you get enough of God’s presence?

Dear Lord, my soul longs for You; the Well that won’t run dry. Please take my cup and fill it up. I want more of You. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
