Matthew 4:4. “Jesus answered by quoting Deuteronomy: “It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God’s mouth.””

Esi huffed as she turned her back on Kojo. He was mean! Kojo had just told her not to order the triple deluxe; a delicious extravagant sandwich made up of ham, cheese, turkey, seasonal vegetables and lashings of an amazing creamy house dressing! It had been Esi’s favourite before the diagnosis and she was thrilled they had pulled up to this restaurant on the way home. Now Kojo with his mean sadistic ways was keeping her from her yummy treat. She huffed again as she calmed down and acknowledged that Kojo was right. Eating the wrong thing could kill her; no matter how mouthwatering it was.

Let’s focus on our spiritual food for a bit. What are we eating? A balanced meal? A tasty but junky snack? Are we eating well often or do we pig out once a week and spend the rest nibbling on bits and pieces or worse fasting? Is what we’re eating nourishing our souls? Eating the wrong thing can kill you.

The Bible refers to the Word of God as our food; It promises that it’s is tasty and good for us. A nourishment to our souls that shows results even on our bodies. Sometimes we’re presented with lighter versions of our prescribed meal or even plain junk food by well respected chefs (preachers), that doesn’t make it good for us. We’ve been given both the menu and the recipe book. If something doesn’t add up in your diet, you should be able to go get it yourself. Read the Bible; stick to our healthy diet.

Think About This

What are you feeding yourself?

Dear Lord, let me find Your word to be both meat and milk; sweeter than the honeycomb. May I continually eat of your healthy diet. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
