Romans 8:38&39. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.”
Stella sighed as the closing credits rolled, it was the 110th time she had seen ‘The Princess Bride’ and she wondered if it would be obsessive to rewind and watch it again. She loved the story of the persistent undying love between Wesley and Buttercup. How Wesley risked everything for her; died and came back just to save her from Prince Humperdinck. It reminded her of the way Jesus loved her and that was Stella’s favourite love story of all.
What really gets me about that story is there was no coercion involved; everything Christ did was voluntary and yet he didn’t have to do it. He gave up His Glory and came down as a man (Philippians 2:7), He lived as we did (Hebrews 4:15), was betrayed and suffered a horrific death (Acts 13:8), continued to fight our battles even in death (Revelations 1:18), resurrected (1 Corinthians 15:4), came into His Glory (Hebrews 2:9), made us His bride and still intercedes on our behalf when we mess up (Romans 8:34)! Now that is true love and ain’t nothing getting in the way of that! Christ’s love for us is truly inconceivable.
Think About This
Is it just a story for you? What makes it different?
Dear Lord, let my life show that I believe You love me inconceivably. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
