“I’m sure now I’ll see God’s goodness in the exuberant earth. Stay with GOD! Take heart. Don’t quit. I’ll say it again: Stay with GOD.”Psalm 27:13-14 MSG

They had fallen into a rut and things had lost their excitement, Mummy told Martha and Tommy, so she and Daddy were going on a date to spice things up and learn each other again. Martha had no idea what Mummy meant; the spices were in the kitchen as always and Mummy didn’t have a book with her. How was she going to learn with no books? What was a rut anyway?

Lent isn’t a time when you give things up so as to be perfect; it a time when you focus all your energies on God. It can be tough to find time for devotional duties; there are so many things to do in a day. It’s easier to rush through a short passage and skim someone else’s thoughts then call it a day.
Lent is meant to give you a passion for Christ (pun intended) it’s a reminder that He didn’t have to come down and become a man but He did; for us. He didn’t have to suffer the indignities of life on earth; He is God. Yet He chose to for us. The horrifying dehumanizing trial could have been skipped with a word, yet He went through it for us. He hung on the cross and died; the most shameful Roman punishment even though He did no wrong. That was for us also. These reminders make me wonder what manner of man Christ is. They make me want to know Him better.

Think About This

How can you get to know Christ better this Lenten period? An extra Bible reading? More time in prayer? Imitating Him?Prayer

Dear Lord,

Thank You for the chance to draw closer to You. Guide my steps to get more of You. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
