“Don’t lose your grip on Love and Loyalty. Tie them around your neck; carve their initials on your heart. Earn a reputation for living well in God’s eyes and the eyes of the people.”Proverbs 3:3-4
Todd looked around; there were so many people here. He saw business owners and CEOs seated, Reverend Ministers and Pastor had also gathered. There were even some chiefs in full regalia! It was a large room and Todd had never seen it full before, but today it was overflowing. He leaned forward and asked his grandmother a question, ” Was Uncle Pete a rich man?” Grandma stifled back the tears as she lifted her face from the handkerchief and replied, “No Darling, but he was a good man.”
The Bible says a good name is better than riches (Proverbs 22:1) We’ve all figured out the riches bit, but how do you get a good name? You get a good name by building character. Showing love and exhibiting loyalty are great ways of doing that. They are both action words so it means sharing things, being kind and considerate, thinking of others before yourself etc. This isn’t a show you put on to impress others neither is it a nine day wonder on display; building character is an activity that takes time because you need a solid foundation so as to be able to withstand the tests of time.
Take a look at Job in the Bible; he had both riches and a good name. So good a name in fact that God Himself boasted of him. When Job was tested, his riches were taken away but his good name remained.
Think About This
When you are tested what will remain? What will people say of you when you are gone?
Please help me show love and loyalty, first to You and then to those around me. Let me build a good name for myself; the name of a Christian. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
