WHY WORRY?

1 Peter 5:7     Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.

Twirling, whirling, twisting, turning, Jenny danced with abandon like a leafy branch responding to the wind.  She was healed and out of the hospital, hallelujah!  Auntie Joe rushed to her side and cautioned her to be careful, but Jenny gave an impish grin and told her that God had healed her and was responsible for her.  Who was more careful than God?

There is a lot to worry about if you think about it; exams, work, money, friends etc.  But why would you want to think about it, dwell on it and allow it to make you anxious, depressed, angry or any other possible negative emotion?  The New International Version of today’s verse puts it like this

 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

God cares that you’re stressed or sad.  He wants you to be filled with joy and love not sorrow and pain.  What do you have to do to be free of all that bothers you?  Give it to him.  You can even throw (cast) it if you don’t want to hold on any longer.  God assures us throughout the Bible that He is there for us, we just need to turn to Him.  Worrying doesn’t do us any good;

 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Matthew 6:27 NIV

 When we turn things over to Jesus, He takes care of all we need and desire.

 God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

Ephesians 3:20

 Think About This

What are you worried about?  Why not give it to God?

Prayer

Dear Lord,

There are some things that I know worry over even though I know it doesn’t make a difference except to make me sick and doubt You.  Please forgive me and help me let go of them and give them to You.  Teach me not to worry but to pray instead.  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen
