John 3:16     This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.

Max skipped to the shop full of glee. He had saved up all his pennies since Christmas just so he could buy a Spiderman watch and he finally had enough!  He practically glowed with pride as he left the shop and bumped into Owuraku.  Owuraku had tears streaming from his eyes as Max asked what the matter was.  On hearing that Owuraku had lost his watch, Max knew what he had to do.  It hurt him greatly that he was giving up the watch he had saved up so hard to buy, but Owuraku was his friend and Max didn’t want him to cry.  Without a word, Max fixed the Spiderman watch on Owuraku’s arm and watched in a quiet joy as his friend hopped from one foot to the other in total ecstasy.  Max knew he had done the right thing and seeing Owuraku so happy made it all worth it.

Max didn’t have to make that sacrifice, but he did it because he loved his friend and wanted to make him happy.  That’s pretty much what happened between us and God.  He loved us so much that He made the greatest sacrifice ever, just so we could have a shot at eternal joy.  Owuraku’s acceptance of the gift and obvious excitement made the sacrifice worthwhile to Max.  In the same way whenever someone accepts Christ as their Lord and saviour, God knows His sacrifice was worth it. prepaid salvation.png

I think that is a very special kind of love.  The sort of love that causes you to act based on compassion and empathy; you feel the emotions of another person and act to improve them.  If you have Jesus in your heart you can show that special kind of love as well

Think About This

Are you excited about God’s gift to you?  How are you showing it?

Dear Lord,

I can’t believe you love me that much, but I am sure glad that You do.  I want to show You how much I love You as well, but I need Your help to do it.  Please let me show others the love You have shown me.  In Jesus name I pray. Amen
