Psalm 23:5 You serve me a six-course dinner right in front of my enemies.  You revive my drooping head; my cup brims with blessing.

Libby knew Betty was watching her so she took her time and peeled the wrapper off the exotic ice-cream Mama had given her.  First she just admired it, turning it round and round watching the sprinkles in their pretty colours.  Then Libby leaned in and licked the succulent cream.  She peaked over and saw Betty swallow at the same time she did.  Hehehe, Betty was always mean to her in school so it was such fun to tease her with something so delicious.  As Libby nibbled her ice-cream though she started to feel a little mean and so she offered Betty bite of her ice-Cream.  Papa had been observing the two little girls and beaming with pride he bought Betty her own ice-cream and another giant cone for Libby.  Awesome!!

Most treats are meant to make just you feel good, but when God pampers you, there is room for others to be treated too.  The bible in Matthew 5:44 tells us to pray for our enemies

I’m telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves.

This isn’t because God doesn’t know that these people worry us, but because when you become a blessing to those who don’t like you, those people will do all they can to help you.  Mean people are usually selfish people; if helping you makes them look good or gets them what they want then even if they don’t like you they will do what they can for you.  Sometimes in difficult situations God blesses us so much that it overflows to our enemies and not only do they love us for it, but they start to love God too.

Think About This

Isn’t it nice to be the source of someone else’s blessing especially someone who isn’t our friend?

Dear Lord,

Thank you that You are a God of abundance and that when You pamper me, my enemies get a treat too.  Thank you that You give me all I need and more even in difficult times.  You’re an awesome God.  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen
