Exodus 19:5&6 “If you will listen obediently to what I say and keep my covenant, out of all peoples you’ll be my special treasure. The whole Earth is mine to choose from, but you’re special: a kingdom of priests, a holy nation.”
Big brown eyes looked up and Papa’s heart melted. He hadn’t planned on getting a dog; he needed a cat to chase the mice scurrying about in the pantry. He had walked into the pet shop with a plan, but those big brown eyes had arrested him. Papa sighed; He knew he was going home with a puppy that day. That pup was something special.
There were a lot of people on earth when God chose the people of Israel to be His very own. He loved them, protected them, provided for them and made sure everyone knew not to mess with them. The Bible doesn’t tell us why He chose them; He just did. Must be something about them, I guess. It is kind of the same deal with you. God had the whole world to pick from and He chose you! Isn’t that awesome?!
God promises to pamper us; spoil us. If you read Psalm 23, you’ll see that to be the special one of God is truly an enviable position. What do you need to do to get all that? Obey the covenant by listening to God’s word and doing what it says.
Think About This
How often do you read your Bible? Did you know that it’s the main way God speaks to us? Whatever the Bible says is true, so you can use that to mark what other people say.
Draw me close to You Lord, never let me go. To be Your special pampered one is my heart’s desire. Help me keep Your covenant. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
