Deuteronomy 31:8      “God is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t worry.”

The ball rolled into the alley and out of sight.  Aseye was ahead of the other boys as they ran after it.  Aseye came to a sharp stop at the edge of the dark pathway; he couldn’t see all the way to the end and the ball was nowhere in sight.  One by one the others bumped into him as they all came to halt by his side.  Pretty soon an argument started over who should retrieve the ball.  Just then Sgt Opete came by whistling on his bicycle.  He stopped to see what was wrong. When the boys told him about the ball, he asked for a volunteer.  Aseye went with him into the alley.  He kept looking up at Sgt Opete and copying the way he walked, pretty soon Aseye started whistling like Sgt Opete and it made him feel a bit better about the dark stinky road he was on.  Suddenly Aseye spotted the ball behind an abandoned box and grabbed it.  “Wait till the boys see me with this,” he thought to himself, “They’ll think I’m so brave!”

Doing certain things can be a little scary, especially starting something new, but it’s always easier when you have someone bigger on your side.  No matter what you’re going through, you can make it because you have God on your side.  He likes to give us little reminders that He is with us.  It might be hidden in a song, or bible verse, or a comfortable person.  It could even be in the way the light shines. God keeps reminders of His protection over us everywhere.  All you need to do is look around when you get scared.

 Think About This

Could anything possibly scare God?  If you’re safe with God then what could possibly scare you?

Dear Lord,

Please remind me that with you by my side, I’m safe and don’t need to fear anything.  Because You and I are friends I can face anything!  Thanks for that.  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen
